Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. Monday, February 15 is President's Day and will mark the start of Week 22 of the 2020 to 2021 school year. As Monday is a holiday, there will be no classes and no food services. Food delivery will occur on Tuesday and Thursday of this week with breakfast and lunch items for two days in each delivery. Students are to participate in all video conferences, log into and participate in all online activities, and to complete and submit all paper and pencil work. Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. Monday, January 25th starts week 19 of school year 2020-21. Monday will also be the restart of hot lunches. Hot lunches will be provided on Monday and Wednesday along with sack lunches for Tuesday and Thursday and breakfast items for all four days. Friday deliveries will include breakfast and hot meal for lunch. So, come join the Ogle' Luta Owayawa group and visit our district web site to stay informed. Also, get your students on the video conferences, online to complete the web-based work, and working to complete any delivered materials. Finally, Parent Teacher conferences will be conducted remotely, on the phone or video conference, on Thursday, January 28th. Be looking for contact from your student's teacher. Week 18: Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. Monday, January 18, 2021 is Martin Luther King Jr Day. There will be no school or food deliveries for the holiday. Monday also starts Week 18 of the OLCSD 2020-21 school year. Staff is still on remote work status. Meal deliveries will be on Tuesday and Thursday of this week. Each delivery will have breakfast and lunch for two days. Parents/guardians, it is very important that you make sure students are participating in all video conferences, are completing and submitting all online and paper and pencil work, and are connecting with teachers and paraprofessionals daily. Meals for two days will be delivered on Monday and Tuesday, and breakfast and lunch for one day will be delivered on Friday. Remember, students must participate in video conferences, complete and submit online assignments, and finish and submit paper and pencil work to be considered "in attendance." Staff is still considered to be working remotely. Essential staff will be on site from 9 to 2 most days unless noted. Thank you and have a good night.
Happy New Year, Red Shirt students, families, and staff. Tuesday will start Week 16 of the 2020-21 school-year. Meals will be delivered on Tuesday for Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday will see delivery of Thursday and Friday's meals. Staff are still on a remote work schedule, so there may not be many people at the school before 9 or after 2 on any given day. Remember Covid is still something to try to avoid. Please make sure students participate in all video classes, complete all online work, and finish and submit any paper and pencil assignments. Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. 1:30 PM officially marked the start of the Oglala Lakota County School District Winter Break. Apart from security, maintenance and intermittent administrative staff, there will be no staff at any of the school sites after Friday, December 18th through January 4th, 2021. Please have a safe and covid free holiday season.
Week 15: Week 15 of the 2020-2021 School-Year starts on Monday, December 14th. Meals will be delivered on Monday and Wednesday. Monday will have the usual two meal package, and Wednesday will have meals for the remaining 3 days of the week. There will be other deliveries made throughout Week 15 as well. Be looking for staff on all three days this week. Yes, there will only be three instructional days this week. Winter/Christmas break begins on Wednesday, December 16th and will run through January 4th, 2021. Online and video conference instruction will resume on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. Students: Do not start vacation early! Participate in all Zooms and complete all on and off line work. If you need anything, staff will be at the school from 9AM until 2PM due to remote working policy. Once more before the message ends, be looking for staff making deliveries all three days this week. Week 14: December 7 through December 11--Monday, December 7th starts week 14 for this school year. Meal deliveries will run the usual days and times. Remember to have students participate on all video conferences, engage in all online work, and complete any activities sent home in paper and pencil format. Report cards will be mailed this week so be looking for them. If you have any questions or need homework or materials, please call the school, specially between the hours of 9 AM and 2PM. Teachers are working remotely, and other staff is on site primarily for maintenance and clerical activities so you may have to leave messages. Have a great week!
Week 13: November 30th through December 4th, 2020: Monday, November 30th marks the first day of Week 13 this school year. Tuesday December 1st is the official last day of the first trimester. Report cards will be mailed out on Monday, December 7th. This has been a tough time with the virus requiring students to attend school via distance learning for two full trimesters. Be sure to talk with your student’s teachers about their progress and the options available to ensure your student gets the most out of elementary school. Remember, covid-19 should not force your child to lose a year or more of full elementary and middle school education. Meal service will be on the regular schedule of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. As always, make sure your student, or students, participate in all video conferences, do all online program work or activities, and complete and submit any work sent home in paper and pencil form. Please inform the school or teacher of any phone, address, or email changes. If we cannot contact you, we cannot provide full educational services through distance education tools. Finally, if there are any issues, questions, or other items, please call the school or email the school. All communications will be directed to teachers or the principal. Week 12: November 23 through November 27: Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. Tomorrow, November 23rd, 2020 starts Week 12 of the school year. While the trimester officially ends December 1st, we will end the week one third of the way into the 2020-21 school year. This week is also the week of the Thanksgiving holiday. Classroom video conferences, online assignments, and other activities will take place on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Please make sure your student or students continue to participate in every way possible. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be considered holiday time, and no classes will occur. Food service will be delivering at the regular time on Monday for breakfasts and lunches for two days. Please, have a happy and safe holiday, and stay negative,...of Covid 19.
Week 11: Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. Monday, November 16 starts Week 11 of the 2020-21 School Year. This will be a normal week. Food service deliveries will run on Monday and Wednesday with breakfast and lunch for two days. Friday's delivery will be breakfast and lunch for that day. Deliveries will leave the school at 10:30 AM. Just a reminder, attendance for distance learning is determined by student participation in video conference class time, work completed in the online applications, and completion of any delivered paper and pencil work. Encourage your children to get as much out of the distance learning as possible. Finally, please keep in contact with the teachers. We cannot help if we cannot communicate with you and students. Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. Monday, November 9th starts week 10 of the 2020-21 school-year. The district will be delivering meals on Monday and Thursday this week due to the Veteran's Day holiday on Wednesday, November 11th. Each day will see two days of meals for breakfast and lunch. There will be no staff working on Wednesday for the holiday. For all other days, though, please ensure your student(s) will be participating in all class video conferences, completing all online work, and doing all paper/pencil work provided by their teachers. Monday, November 2, 2020: Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. There is no water at Red Shirt School today. This situation will prevent meal preparation and delivery today. No lunch/breakfast service will take place today. We hope to resume meal service on Wednesday. Remember to get your students to participate in Zoom, work on the online activities and curricula, and complete all pen and paper work if available. Have a great day.
Week 9, November 2, 2020: Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. Tomorrow, November 2nd, will start week 9 of the 2020-21 School-year. Lunch delivery will start up again tomorrow. Two days of meals will be delivered for each enrolled student on Monday and Wednesday, and a single day of lunches will be delivered Friday. Feeding South Dakota meal bags will be delivered on Fridays as well. Staff will be working from school on Mondays and Wednesdays. Remember this if you need to contact the school. Thank you. October 26-October 30, 2020: Greetings Red Shirt students, families, and staff. Week 8 of school for the 2020-21 school year starts Monday, October 26. Due to the O. S. T. lockdown, all staff will work from home. Students are encouraged to participate in all video conferences, take all calls from instructional staff, and complete all online work within the instructional applications. Passing grades can only be given if activities and assignments are completed appropriately. Food service will not be available during the lockdown. Please, stay safe and stay negative!

Instructional staff will work on site Monday and Wednesday this week and from home the other week days. Food deliveries will occur on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Multiple meals for multiple days will be delivered on Monday and Wednesday. Please be sure to read the instructions accompanying the deliveries for food safety. Remember, work completed online, paper and pencil work sent home, and participation in telephone or video conference are all synonymous with attendance for online learning.
