School Registration is underway in the Oglala Lakota County Schools! We are excited for our students to return.
This year marks the official 100-year anniversary of the Batesland School. To celebrate this momentous milestone, we will be hosting a District Inservice at the Batesland School. Community members, families, past employees, and past board members are encouraged and invited to join us for a morning of reminiscing and sharing a meal.
We will host our Celebration Day on Friday, August 14, 2026, beginning at 9:30 AM with registration.
Our schools are looking forward to a great year of learning. Students will resume their instruction on August 19, 2026. We will welcome back our bus drivers on August 6th and instructional staff on August 10th.
Rianna Albers will be leading the Batesland Eagles this year. She is excited to have the students back in the school and has some great plans for the next year.
Misty Brave will be leading the Red Shirt Rumble. The Red Shirt team has been busy working on some improvement projects and is excited to showcase their school to the community.
Dr. Jennifer Sierra and Brian O'Connor are setting up the Rockyford School for a successful school year. They are welcoming a second Dean of Students this year. Stop in and say "hello" to the Rockyford team.
Melissa Iron Cloud, Tracy Coats, and Greg Ross will be guiding the Wolf Creek Students to academic growth. In addition to the new principals, a second Dean of Students has been added. Stop in and check out our largest elementary school.
Our High Schools - Lakota Tech High School and our Virtual High School are eager to get students registered and signed up for their courses. Chanda Spotted Eagle and Alberta Wright will be leading the Tatanka, and Melvin Sierra continues to inspire and encourage our Virtual learners.
We are excited for new learning and new opportunities, but we are also solid in our school safety with our SRO Team. Students will have clear backpacks provided by the district again this year. This contribution helps ensure our schools remain safe and provides some savings for families.
