Sunday, April 7, 2024 School Reach

Good evening, Oglala Lakota County School District Staff, Students, and Families.  This is Connie Kaltenbach, Superintendent.

The recent moisture is nice but has made for some muddy off-road conditions.  Parents and guardians, don't hesitate to contact your bus driver and the school if your road is terrible.  We want to maintain a safe ride for all students.  Students we cannot get to will be counted as exempt, but we need the parent/guardian to communicate with the school.

Our schools are state testing this week. This big test compares our students with other students in the state. Our scores last year were low. As a full district, we had a low percentage of proficient students in math and reading last year. I know our students are smart, and this is the test to show all that you know. Do your best and make your mark!

Freshman Impact: Caught in the Moment is a powerful prevention program for young teenage students. The students see up close and learn through hands-on activities the possible consequences of wrong choices, including drunken and distracted driving, and the lasting physical and emotional effects their choices can have on their families friends, and community. The program promotes communication and developing rapport between the youth and law enforcement/fire/rescue personnel.
