We did have our 8th Grade Continuation Ceremony on June 29, 2020. Five of our seven 8thgraders were able to attend with two who had to miss due to family quarantine. It was a celebration that was worth the wait! For Red Shirt, the security presence was overwhelming. We had eight district Security Resource Officers watching the gates and keeping the building secure. Dr. Fairbanks attended and gave some very encouraging words. Monica Knuppe, the 7th & 8th grade teacher announced each continuing student handed out their continuation certificates. The principal emceed the event, and we had the Creekside Drum Group provide the welcome song, the Honor Song, and the Prayer for our students and their families. Finally, a special thanks must go to our 8th grade sponsor, Amaris Swallow. She went above and beyond the call of duty. She recruited Liz Swallow and Vina Holiday to assist with the Philly Steak sandwich lunches, setting up of the parking lot for COVID safe participation, and to acquire a multitude of parting gifts for our continuing students. So, while they did not get the 8th grade field trip other classes enjoyed, they did receive some things to serve them as they move through high school and beyond.
